KDC Co-operative Leadership Fund

Fund Your Co-operative Education

The Keystone Development Center Cooperative Leadership Fund invests in the professional growth and development of cooperative developers, cooperative staff, and cooperative board members.​

The KDC Cooperative Leadership Fund provides:
  • training and education grants and scholarships to professional conferences for cooperative leaders,
  • sponsorship of educational conferences for cooperative board and staff, and
  • development of educational materials relevant to cooperatives. 




Who may apply: Cooperatives, cooperative development organizations, cooperative related groups, groups forming a cooperative and members, staff, and board members of cooperatives. Grants are only available to co-ops within the United States.

Review process: Applications and supporting materials will be reviewed by the Fund's Committee. Applications for more than $1,000 will also be reviewed by the KDC Board. All applicants will be notified as to the status of their applications.

Recipient obligation: Cooperative Leadership Fund recipients are required to report on the use of their grant(s) within 90 days of receipt.
Re-application: Applicants may re-apply to the Fund on condition that KDC has received a final or interim report on all previous grants the applicant has received. 

The KDC Cooperative Leadership Fund will NOT give grants for:
  • capital expenditures, general operating expenses or endowments;
  • travel expenses;
  • projects outside the United States; or
  • projects or programs that have already occurred.

Other Information:
  • Grants range between $200 to $1,000.
  • The KDC Cooperative Leaders Fund's policy is to fund less than 50% of the training cost.
  • The applications are accepted throughout the year and are limited based on availability.
